About Lace

The Schiffli embroidery process

One Schiffli machine runs hundreds of needles at once on the same repeat, across the width of the cloth. Once the embroidery is finished, we cut away or dissolve the ground cloth.

The Order of Work

The five production steps

  1. 01

    Design received

We accept a design as a file, a swatch, or a photograph. A photograph from a phone camera is enough for us to read the repeat.

  2. 02

    Machine set-up

For printing, we lock the colour profile. For embroidery, we punch the design. The repeat is settled at this stage, before production runs.

  3. 03

    Sampling and approval

We stitch the sample on your base cloth and send it to you for inspection. Production runs once we have received your approval.

  4. 04

    Production

Production follows the sample you approved and runs at the machine's full width.

  5. 05

    Finishing and despatch

The cloth goes through washing, heat setting, inspection, rolling, and then packing to your shipping marks. We carry out inspection before rolling, because cloth that has been rolled cannot be inspected in full.

Our production machines

We run Lässer embroidery machines and Pengda heat-transfer calenders. Punching, sampling, production and finishing all take place in this building.

The Design Archive

The motifs in our catalogue

Open the catalogue →

We add more than a thousand new motifs every month, and our catalogue holds part of that archive. If nothing there suits, we also work from your own repeat.

The specification we need

We can give you a complete answer once we know the product line, the quantity, and either the base cloth or the hazard class.
